Over the past few days a screenshot has been circulating through the depths of the FlyFF community platforms. This screenshot shows a teaser for a new FlyFF mobile game called ‘FlyFF Star’.
What exactly this means is not yet clear at this stage. However, it seems to be a cooperation with the Philippine publisher PlayPark. Whether this game will be released only for the Philippine market (or maybe worldwide) is not known at this time either.
At least it doesn’t seem to be a fake. The question about this title was asked by a curious user on the FlyFF Legacy Discord server. Another player took up the question and addressed it directly to one of the community managers. [CM] Cloud confirmed the authenticity of this teaser a little bit later, but also made it clear that it is ‘not from them’. He probably meant that FlyFF Star is not published and operated by Gala Lab itself, but by the Philippine publisher PlayPark.
Over the coming weekend a double drop event will take place in FlyFF. May the loot be with you!
Start: 11/06/2020, 5:00 p.m.*
End: 11/08/2020, 4:59 p.m.*
Servers: Aibatt, Mushpang, Clockworks, Razgul, Yggdrasil, Dryad, Mahtolle, Azranoct
Drop Chance: x2
* Time zone: PST (UTC -7)
Publisher Way2Bit seems to plan new servers for FlyFF. At least an information page on the official FlyFF website, which hasn’t been published yet, suggests this. The new server is scheduled to start as early as Friday, October 23rd, 2020.
Alongside the new server, a few more events are scheduled as well. For example, the Attendance Event, which has been leaked already, another Level-Up Event and a Level Ranking Event. We have already covered the first two events on the blog. The last one could be defined as a level-up race in which the player with the highest character level wins at the end of the event period (the character must have been created during the event period, though).
On Tuesday, 20th October 2020, a regular server maintenance will take place in FlyFF. Login to the game won’t be possible at this time.
US: 03:00 a.m. to 05:00 a.m. (PST)
UK: 09:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. (UTC +1)
DE: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (UTC +2)
The BORA Launch Events will end and the FlyFF Halloween Event 2020 will start.
Over the coming weekend a double EXP event will take place in FlyFF. Stretch the bows, sharpen the axes and don’t forget to pack the beard oil!
Start: 10/16/2020, 5:00 p.m.*
End: 10/19/2020, 4:59 p.m.*
Servers: Aibatt, Clockworks, Yggdrasil, Mahtolle
EXP Bonus: 100%
Slowly but surely, things are getting serious. The change in publishers from WEBZEN to Way2Bit will be happening in two weeks’ time. Today, Gala Lab took the first step towards taking over the community and officially opened the gates of the new FlyFF Discord servers.
Our client tends to get flooded with masses of new items during server maintenances. A lot of it does not even belong to our Western versions, however, and is instead being developed for wholly different regions and their publishers. A lot of new or recycled Fashion Sets being among said items is old news as well. So old, in fact, that we have decided not to talk about it on the Blog anymore.
Today marks a rare exception. Why? Because this Fashion Set is actually quite pretty and as such, we would like to share it with you. Pretty is not its only feature though, as it boasts some quite nice effects as well.
We do not think that this set will be heading our way at all, though, due to it having a cultural background. It is a tribute to the Qixi Festival (‘The Double Seventh Festival’), a sort of Chinese equivalent to our Valentine’s Day. Should you be interested in learning more about it, Wikipedia will surely be able to help you out.

After today’s exceptional maintenance, players noticed the disappearance of an NPC in all towns. ‘[Arena Manager] Ray’ has vanished from his usual place.
Publisher WEBZEN was quick to shed light on the situation. Developer Gala Lab removed the NPC without informing WEBZEN. Inquiries by WEBZEN revealed that Gala Lab removed him due to a bug linked to the NPC.
As of now, it is unknown when exactly the NPC will be returning.
Today’s server maintenance was supposed to start off the new Summer Event “FlyFF at the Beach”. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the start of the event has been moved to Friday, 08/21/2020. That being said, another server maintenance will be happening on Friday.
The WEBZEN Smoothie Truck has granted us a few small rewards as part of the Summer Event. With today’s website maintenance, the event has come to a close. As a culmination of sorts, the publisher has decided to treat us to an item code:
UKKJ7EWKGB8ZDD5Z
This code contains 3x “7 Days Dark Traseia Ticket (Event)”. It is valid until 08/17/2020 at 05:00 p.m. (PST) and can be redeemed on the following site once per account for characters on the DE, FR, EU or US server: http://www.webzen.com/Coupon
Today, WEBZEN has announced the postponement of the next planned server maintenance on the official FlyFF Discord server. Originally scheduled for 08/04/2020, it is now supposed to take place a day later, on 08/05/2020.
The reason for this delay seems to be the current problem with the new wings. Transmuting them onto a cloak leads to the visual effect disappearing after a short while in many cases. Developer Gala Lab is aiming to provide a fix for this problem with the next server maintenance. They just need a bit more time to implement it.
It is widely known that developer Gala Lab sometimes goes way beyond the intended with the server maintenances. Occasionally, this leads to NPCs stranding on our servers even though they are not supposed to be there yet. Such a case happened today.
On the German server Yggdrasil‘s PK Channel, an NPC was sighted in Flarine which seems to have appeared just a tad too early. Her German name, as well as the exchange she offers, strongly suggest a soon to be Summer Event.
Past Tuesday saw a variation of the new ‘Angelic Wings’ arrive in the Cash Shop; animated wings one can wear in the cloak slot.
Wings as a cloak are completely new in FlyFF. Consequentially, there seem to be some problems left associated with other game mechanics. There have already been multiple reports of players whose transmutations of the wings onto their cloaks simply disappeared.
Should you, too, be planning to skin your ‘Angelic Wings’ onto a cloak, we would advise you to wait until the problems have been adressed.
Due to a data center maintenance on 07/15/2020, access to the game will temporarily not be possible. This maintenance will only be affecting the US server Aibatt.
Maintenance will begin at 4:00 p.m. (PST) and is expected to end at 7:30 p.m. (PST).
This maintenance will unfortunately be coinciding with the Guild Siege on Wednesday, which will therefore not be taking place.
Spending some time in Community Management allows one to learn quite a bunch about things such as swarming behaviour of players. It is, for example, of the utmost importance to show a consistent conduct towards all players and player groups at all times. Otherwise, players may very quickly feel left out or treated unfairly. Sadly, the French GM Klaig does not seem to have a grasp on this yet.
A popular pitfall, in this context, tend to be the national holidays of the different FlyFF communities. If one community is treated to a different gift for their national holiday than the other communities, trouble will be brewing rather quickly.
This pitfall was beautifully taken by GM Klaig at top speed. While the US Community got a cheap item code – containing 5 Firework items – to honour their Independence Day on July 4th, Klaig’s thoughts probably were: ‘Only the best for my fellow French countrymen’, which lead to the French community being treated to a one-week equivalent of the ‘Macaroon Rain Event’ for their French national holiday.
Put shortly: The US server got 5 Firework items to celebrate their national holiday and the FR server is allowed to farm Power-Ups from monsters for a whole week.
We wish you a lot of fun with the coming shitstorm, Klaig. 🙂
Technically, not much was supposed to be patched with today’s server maintenance on 07/08/2020. Only the removal of the ‘Rock Paper Scissors Event’ and the ‘Run of the Dumb Bull Event’ NPCs was part of the initial announcement, as well as a GameGuard update for 32-bit systems.
Following the end of the server maintenance, another patch got announced surprisingly. The patch notes now read:
Arcanist’s ‘EVA Storm’ skill is no longer usable below level 129
Official FlyFF EN website
Why this restriction has only been applied to the Arcanist AoE skill is unclear as of yet. Should this have been an attempt to restrain the controversial Powerboosting, nerfing this particular skill alone will probably not be sufficient. Such a restriction would have to be applied to all skills of all classes instead.
Whether the changes communicated by Gala actually turn out to be accurate is another story. Reports have already reached us that these changes are supposedly not exclusive to the skill ‘EVA Storm’.
Meanwhile, WEBZEN confirmed that this change affects all skills of all job classes as well.
The regular FlyFF server maintenance on 07/07/2020 has been postponed. It has been moved by a day from Tuesday to the following Wednesday, 07/08/2020, with the timeframe staying the same (midnight until presumably 4:00 a.m. PST).
More information concerning this server maintenance can be found in WEBZENs corresponding announcement.
Rummaging around inside the FlyFF client following today’s server maintenance, one item stood out to us in particular. The ‘Angelic Wings’ are an item already known as a flying vehicle under the same name. Upon taking a closer look, however, this new variant seems to be a cloak.
The community has made suggestions for cloaks time and time again. These included designing other cosmetic items for the cloak slot, such as backpacks or similar things. Is Gala Lab trying to take a step in this direction?
What is also interesting about this item is the fact that English and German item descriptions are available. Chances might not be bad for this item being designated for our versions of FlyFF as well. We are officially curious.

Angelic Wings | Wings of Angel |
Ah, the odyssey we have had with the item code for the 1-day ‘Enhanced Party Skill Range’. At first, WEBZEN gave them to us without soul-binding to celebrate the 11th WEBZEN anniversary coming to a close. A short while later, they were removed again, because some players – who would have guessed – went a little overboard redeeming the codes. What followed was a tremendous tirade released by the community. A lot of frustration came from players who bought these items from other players ingame and were now left without compensation.
Now, the odyssey is finally coming to an end. By their own admission, WEBZEN has fought for the approval of a compensation from Gala Lab during the last weeks. The result is a new item code, which provides 7x ‘1 Day Enhanced Party Skill Range(Event)’ as soul-bound items.

The character build of the so-called ‘Wand Blade’ has been the subject of many discussions on the FlyFF community platforms over the last years. Some believe it to be disreputable and on the same level as bug using, while others welcomed it as a chance of bypassing the massive block rate of high-level monsters.
With today’s server maintenance on 06/09/2020, FlyFF developer Gala Lab implemented a ninja update once again. The wand blade has been nerfed. Using the ‘Old Guardian Wand’ as a Blade / Slayer in combination with another one-handed weapon now leads to the standard long-range attack of the Wand no longer being executed. This change only hits the Blade / Slayer class. Every other class is still able to use the Wand as usual.
Publisher WEBZEN apperently knew nothing of the implemented change. That is what GM Piccolo stated on the English FlyFF Discord, at least.
The Wand Blade nerf is sure to raise questions. It is a complex topic which cannot be covered as a whole in a small Newsticker entry. This is why we will publish a Blog article on the topic of the Wand Blade next week.
Update #1 – 06/09/2020
WEBZEN has released a statement regarding the changes on the official FlyFF forums. You can read the statement here.
For a while now, there has been an exploit in FlyFF, allowing players to slyly invite themselves into someone else’s party or guild, or to initiate a trade with another player. The latest cases arose just yesterday evening on the German FlyFF server.
The main concern lies with the Guild Warehouse. Many players primarily use their own guilds as additional storage space and, as such, only invite their own characters into these guilds. This leads to no thoughts being given to member rankings. Even Rookies usually have the rights to take items and Penya from the Guild Warehouse.
This information has already reached WEBZEN as well. GM Piccolo commented on the player reports on the German FlyFF Discord and recommends limiting the rights for the Guild Warehouse to a point where new members are unable to access it.
In order to finish off the 11th WEBZEN.com anniversary, the publisher granted its players another item code. In the case of FlyFF, this item code contained the item ‘Enhanced Party Skill Range’ five times.
Now, an announcement was made on the official FlyFF Discord which stated that these very items are set to ‘expire’ with the coming server maintenance on 05/26/2020. A very sudden announcement, which saw most players with a lack of understanding at first sight.
The reason behind this decision is probably the fact that the scrolls in question were not soul-bound, which led to a few players hoarding thousands of them. Who could have possibly seen that coming… ?
In the midst of the rising server problems which have been plaguing the FlyFF servers for a few weekends now, an exceptional maintenance with a subsequent patch took place.
As a means of compensation for the circumstances, WEBZEN is offering a code which contains 5x ‘(Event) Scroll of Amplification R (1 day)’. The items are soul-bound.

Today, the event celebrating WEBZEN.com’s 11th anniversary has come to an end. At the close of the festivities, the publisher decided to treat us to a small item code containing the item ‘1 Day Enhanced Party Skill Range’ x5.
